Calypso’s Sky
Calypso, Goddess of the Sea. Her view, the expansive sky. These pieces are the study of the visual relationship of water to sky.
Each painting is inspired by the horizon, the connection point of where water meets the sky. The undulating movement of hand pouring creates an exciting motion that compliments the hand painted gestures that ground each piece. The use of gold enamel and gold leaf anchor the horizon and add light to forms inspired by the landscape. A visual meditation of color and space, that honors the local landscape and waterways that connect us.
Our connection to the natural form within our environment grounds us in the present moment. The connection of the viewer to the visual meditation piece is an individual experience and each piece is considered to have its own quiet voice for visual reflection.
